Photo published in the ASM News showing the break in the dyke at Gifford. "Terrific force of water flowing through the break in the Gifford dyke early Monday morning is graphically pictured above. This picture, taken about 9:20 a.m. at a point about one-third of a mile west of the break, illustrates the power of the waters as they battered against No. 1 pump house, which was soon practically wrecked. Plunging past the pump house, the flood waters raced under the CNR tracks and turned eastward to inundate hundreds of acres of valuable farm lands lying north and east of Gifford."
